Homestay Families Wanted
We are often looking for New Homestay Families for our International students.
We are taking expressions of interest from families who live in the Upper Hutt area and who would like to become a homestay family for our International students
Now that the borders are opening. we will be welcoming International students back to Upper Hutt College. We are looking for kind, caring families to support these students while they study.
International students attend Upper Hutt College for varying lengths of time, this can be from 1 term up to 4 years. Being part of a New Zealand family is an integral part of their stay.
Hosting International students is both interesting and rewarding. You will play a valuable role in providing the care and support students need to succeed in their quest for English language competence, being part of your family assists the student in developing an understanding of the New Zealand lifestyle.
The host family will be paid a remuneration for this role and receive ongoing support from the International Department throughout the duration of your student's stay. You will be expected to treat the student as part of your family and support them with their studies, provide meals and packed lunches, register them with your doctor and include them in family outings.
A police vetting will be carried out for all family members over the age of 18 living in the home.
If you would like to find out more about hosting International students, please contact Amanda Sharkey, International Homestay Manager, or the Deputy Principal Janetta van Maren. Please call 04 527 8749 or email [email protected]
